Review : Anukshanam
This is an RGV film with Manchu Vishnu after his last film Rowdy with Manchu Mohanbabu. It is a psycho thriller. Keeping a record of serial murders that happened in different cities across the country, RGV has developed the concept of Anukshanam. There were films earlier on similar concepts from RGV production house. But, for the sake of Vishnu, RGV has himself directed this film. He directed the film in a manner similar to Hollywood thrillers, undoubtedly. There cannot be any doubt about RGV’s skills in producing such high quality frames. But, how far this film has captivated the Telugu audiences is the question you get in to mind. Let us go through the analysis here.
Story line
One psycho started killing girls just for the sake of happiness right from his young age. He runs a cab in twin-cities and whenever a girl boards his cab, he would take her away from the city and kill her at an isolated place. As this serial killing begins to multiply, the crime branch would appoint a special police officer namely Gowtam (Manchu Vishnu) to capture him. Gowtam and his team would immediately plung in to action to nab the criminal. Around this time, a researcher Sailaja who happened to do research on the behaviour and attitudes of psychos lend some information to the investigating team. As these murders get highlighted in the media, psycho cab driver begins to kill the girls for the sake of publicity and in the process he would eliminate the daughter of Home Minister as well. As a result the matter turns worst serious. Finally, the crisis turns out to be a personal enmity between Gowtam and the cab driver. Finally, how Gowtam has ended the serial killing and what happened to the killer –are the mysteries of the film to be watched and enjoyed.
Cast and roles
Such psycho thrillers are not unusual in Hollywood. But, in Telugu this is an experiment with a heavy risk of investment. RGV and Machu Vishnu both had done a big experiment indeed. The story is simple but the narration is quite tight and thought provoking. The director succeeded in maintaining the suspense till the end.Surya acted as a psycho and by virtue of his natural histrionics, he had given a very good body language to the mental disposition of psycho. Revati has acted as the researcher. Madhushalini acted as media reporter. Both of them had done excellent job. Kota, Supreet, and Sravan had done their assigned roles perfectly. Actually there is no need of Brahmanandam in the film. Navdeep, Tejaswini, and Sana give guest appearances here and there in a few scenes. Similar to Hollywood tradition, the film is not lengthy enough which usually Telugu audiences are used to .The shortness of the length also has added effect to the RGV’s skills of noir filmmaking.
Technical
Cinematography is superb. It has added to the thriller genre perfectly well. There is a wonderful connectivity between audiences and the narration on the screen. Music is also befitting the crime thriller. Brahmanandam episodes could have been reduced to a minimum.Compared to earlier films, RGV has concentrated on a single point and therefore the narration has become intensely inspiring and thrilling. Ultimately audiences get drawn in to film inevitably.
Telugumirchi.com analysis
We opine that this is the best film among RGV’s recent ones. The film is ideally good for those who are used to enjoy thrillers. So film lovers get an option to spend this weekend.
